Happy Tuesday friends! This post is a bit overdue and today I wanted to take a moment to step back and look at some of the best of Caravan Sonnet travel in 2024 and am excited to remember these precious moments of travel. I am so blessed by my job as a travel writer and I am incredibly blessed by this amazing community that has been with Caravan Sonnet TWELVE years!! Y'all since 2013 this has been the most supportive and amazing community! As I look forward to some exciting new adventures with travel and collaborations in 2025 I can't wait to grow even more with you in this new year and new decade. Thank you for being such an amazing community!
January 2024
January brought so many sweet memories concluding after a precious time in the sweet south where we spent Christmas with my sister in South Carolina and then traveled to with my brother for the marriage of his first kiddo- my niece. It was a lot of driving in a 10 day span, but it was lovely and just so much fun!
One thing that I hear a lot from people is that they just don't have "time or money" to travel like I do. I definitely understand - working a full time job plus other responsibilities doesn't leave me the opportunity to travel as much as I did during the full-time travel writing era. BUT... I have learned once again that sometimes travel doesn't have to be "far away"... you can find adventure in so many different places... even if it is just spending time on the weekends exploring nearby...
Whether it is taking a walk in the snow in dresses in the mountains...
Or walking along the road by your house... beauty truly is everywhere and January sweetly reminded me of that!
February 2024
In February we took a lot of adventures back and forth across the lake to Vermont.
These little adventures reminded me gently of what I was learning in January also- to explore surroundings you may feel you already know well. For me that was exploring a section of Vermont that I didn't know well because despite spending days over there in the last 8 years, I have so much still to discover. Life is like that isn't it? Seeing the beauty all around us and grabbing those moments when we look for them.
I also returned several times over to Lake Placid for a few different mini collaborations. It was fun to be back in Lake Placid not just as a visitor but with travel work again. The first big blog trip that I took in 2019 was a collaboration with the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort in Lake Placid, New York. I spent a beautiful (and chilly) couple of days over in Lake Placid that year and it was simply lovely. I enjoyed the stay so much that my mom and I gone back in the summertime. *smiles* You can read more about my stay HERE and watch a video about the property and my stay HERE.
March 2024
March held so many different precious memories, but one of my favorites was the cruise that I took with my mom and sister. This was a gift from my sister and it was absolutely incredible.
We had the absolute most amazing time and they are memories that I still treasure to this day!
April - May 2024
Starting in April 2019 I joined in with the #ADK50falls challenge which highlighted some of the best and most unique waterfalls in the Adirondack Mountains. This was a really fun challenge and I have continued to work on the places throughout the last 5 years. I plan to continue and maybe even finish in the upcoming months? I don't know if I will get to all of them yet but it is so fun! You can read more about the Waterfalls that I have documented HERE.
July 2024
July took us back to Georgia again for this time my nephew's wedding and it was lovely to spend a few days back in Georgia!
August 2024
August held several different road trips and collaborations, but also held some adventures on the lake as we put the little boat back in for the first time since my precious daddy passed away. It was delightful in the mornings to be out on the lake, enjoying the beauty!
A lot of the collaborations were things that were behind the scenes collaborations but it is always fun to have collaborations that include this pretty teal skirt. *smiles*
November 2024
November brought about a series of trips that were not planned with my mom needing to have emergency heart surgery that resulted in a pacemaker being placed. It was a beautiful thankful time with just the placement and how well mom is doing.
December 2024
In December we headed back to New York City a couple of times and up into Canada for a few times during the Christmas season. It truly is lovely.
Thank you to each of you that have partnered with Caravan Sonnet Blog this past year, to the future collaborations and brands that are coming, and most of all to each of you in this sweet community that I am blessed to consider friends and loved ones. I hope that the start of 2025 is just the beginning of a beautiful season of adventuring near or far for you. I can't wait to adventure more with you in this coming year! Happy Tuesday friends!
