Asia is one of the most beautiful places to travel to and whether you find yourself in Vietnam or in the glistening lights of Tokyo, there’s a lot of this place to see when backpacking.
Backpacking is a great way to see the world and for many, a more cost-effective option for those who might be on a budget. With that being said, here’s a quick guide to backpacking through Asia and the tips that are worth knowing so that you can enjoy everything that Asia has to offer.
1. Clue yourself on the visa
When you’re traveling to Asia, it’s important that you have all the necessary documents to avoid getting caught out and blocked from entering the country or traveling within it at any point.
A Vietnam visa, for example, is going to be something you’ll need if traveling here. There are a number of visa-free entry for some nationalities which include Thailand and Singapore for example.
However, it’s good to check where you plan on backpacking and what visas you might need or might not need depending on the length of your stay in each area.
2. Plan a loose itinerary
There’s really so much to do when you’re in Asia that it can be hard to cram it all in. While you want an itinerary to tick off the things you’re desperate to do, you should try to keep it as loose as possible.
When you’re backpacking, not everything will go to plan and you don’t want to kill yourself trying to make booked activities and excursions if you’ve not given yourself enough time to travel to and from these locations in between.
Planning a loose itinerary will make sure you have the best time possible, making room for some spontaneity while in Asia.
3. Use a reputable tour guide company
A reputable tour guide company is important to use when it comes to backpacking through Asia. There are going to be places that you may be happy to travel alone to and other remote parts or extremely busy areas where you may benefit from a tour guide.
If you’re traveling alone, there are also companies out there that enable solo travelers to join groups that all travel to and from various places. It can be a great way of easing yourself into it if it’s your first time traveling alone or traveling with someone else to an unknown part of the world.
4. Download travel apps
Travel apps are helpful to have when it comes to visiting Asia. From apps that can help you learn the language and lingo of locals, to all of the hotspots that you might want to visit if you find yourself looking for lesser-known places to tourists.
Don’t forget, you can also speak to the locals and find out their recommendations on places to visit.
Asia is a wonderful place to have on your travel bucket list, so be sure to add it to your to-visit list this year or in the future.
