Happy Wednesday friends! I hope that your week is going well! Today I am so excited to share this blog post with you- our fourth stop that we took while on our Holland America Cruise, shore excursion around Prince Edward Island! I shared last week that we took the Island Drive & Anne of Green Gables Shore Excursion and we loved it! You can read more about it HERE! Our first stop was to the beautiful Red Cliffs at Cavendish Beach (click HERE to read) and then our second stop of the tour was to the Green Gables Heritage Site.
For those who are interested in the exact shore excursion that we chose it was the Island Drive & Anne of Green Gables shore excursion. You can click HERE to read more about it on the Holland America website. We had debated for a long time about the best shore excursion and we were so pleased with how our final choice worked out! We were able to explore Charlottetown on our own in the morning (which we both enjoyed so much!) and then we still had the opportunity to explore a bit of Prince Edward Island in the afternoon. If you are looking to kind of "split your time" like we did it really is the perfect choice for both worlds.
Just like I shared last week that it was my second visit to Charlottetown, it was also my second time to visit Green Gables, but the first time to do so in the summer months!
Both times were sweet, but there was a true loveliness to visiting with my mom that I wouldn't trade. It already has me dreaming of bringing my own future daughters to Prince Edward Island! If you are a girl mama and have shared these classic books I would recommend this type of trip- no matter the age!
Green Gables is probably one of Prince Edward Island's most notable "Anne" site and for very good reason. The original farmhouse (which inspired author L.M. Montgomery) has been carefully restored to reflect the Anne of Green Gables book descriptions.
Every detail has been considered, even down to the furniture in each room.
We took the house tour in full and walked through each of the above rooms. Since I have already shared about the property before on the blog (read HERE) I am not posting all of the pictures, so if you are interested in seeing a really in depth view of Green Gables check out this post HERE!
After our tour of the house we stepped back outside into the beautiful sunshine and headed over to the walking trails on the property.
We ended up choosing to walk a little bit of the Lovers Lane walking trail (from one of my favorite scenes of the movie) and it is the one that I definitely recommend if you are short on time. There are several trails on the property and if you wanted to read about all the different walking trails that surround the property you can find a post I wrote about this HERE!
After we left the trails we went over to spend time with "Anne". This was an adorable part of being at Green Gables in the summertime that was not present when we visited in the fall months. Anne was around and she was so adorable to talk with - staying in character the entire time!
It was truly a delightful time at Green Gables and I definitely recommend this cruise excursion if you are cruising with Holland America!
Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to read today! I can't wait to share more with y'all regarding our Holland American Cruise adventures! If you would like to read more about our cruise with Holland America you find more posts HERE!
Happy Wednesday friends! I hope you have a wonderful day!
*A huge thank you to Holland America for covering the cost of our shore excursion adventures on Prince Edward Island. As always, all opinions are my own.*
