I shared this quote on instagram several years ago and y'all, I LOVE this quote. So often, for thousands of different reasons, we can feel alone and like this is the way our "stories" (whatever season that they are in) will always be.
My dear friend Jen first shared this quote with me in the middle of my quest to find out the reasons why at a young age I had become unable to walk, was needing a feeding tube, and my entire system was crashing and failing.
After traveling across the country and seeing more than 273 doctors I was finally correctly diagnosed with Advanced Late Stage Lyme Disease in March 2013. Three short months later I was also diagnosed with Cancer and then multiple other health issues. Those days were incredibly dark and discouraging and laying in bed (almost completely bedridden) had never felt so alone. I truly felt like it was the end of my story and that there was no hope or light for the future.
Almost 6 years later after that quote was originally shared I now fully understand how so many of you are feeling in a variety of situations. The days have often seemed darker than light in the middle of pain and illness. And my heart breaks for you in that season. These last couple of weeks I have been receiving nearly 4,000 emails about people struggling through chronic illness, Lyme, and other chronic pain situations. All feeling hopeless. I am trying to respond to each one, but please know that your story is important... your are NOT alone... and this is NOT the end of your story.
If you are reading this today and feeling lost in the pain of your story, my hope and prayer is that you will feel specifically and tenderly encouraged today. Sending love friends... keep holding on... you are NOT alone...and this is NOT the end of your story.
