Happy Tuesday friends! I am excited to spend the next couple of weeks sharing with y'all some recap posts from the girls trip that I took four years ago through New England, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia (along with some new posts from this time that I never shared also!)! I hope that it encourages you to consider taking a road trip (in part or in whole depending on your circumstances) this fall to these beautiful places in the world.

Happy Thursday friends! As I shared on Tuesday, I am so excited to share more about our time on Prince Edward Island, specifically today sharing more about our day that we spent on all things related to "Anne"! I know for a lot of people visiting the island this is one of the main reasons and so I hope that these posts are helpful in planning your own trip someday soon!
As I mentioned earlier today we started our "Anne" day (after waking up at the wonderful Montgomery Inn at Ingleside!) at the Anne of Green Gables Museum (which you can read more about our visit and the museum HERE!). After this we decided to drive over to Green Gables and on the way we had a brief visit at L.M. Montgomery's Birthplace (which you can read about HERE).
If you are driving from the Anne of Green Gables museum it will take you approximately 20 minutes to get to the Green Gables Heritage Site.
Green Gables is probably one of Prince Edward Island's most notable "Anne" site and for very good reason. The original farmhouse (which inspired author L.M. Montgomery) has been carefully restored to reflect the Anne of Green Gables book descriptions. Every detail has been considered, even down to the furniture in each room.
When you arrive at Green Gables you have the opportunity to walk around the property or view a short 10 minute movie that tells more details about L.M.Montgomery's life and the property. The video was really well done and shared some information that I had not been familiar with prior to watching it. If you go it is definitely worth taking the time to see the video!
Because Canada was celebrating 150 years and the Green Gables is part of the Canada parks we were able to get in for free to visit this year. It was definitely a gift that we were grateful for!
When you come to the house you actually come from the back part so you see the house from that view first before you see the front.
It was a beautiful day and the flowers, even in October were gorgeous.
My dear friend Ali, who I traveled with, had the forethought to bring a copy of Anne of Green Gables with her for our visit. She also had the fabulous idea to take a picture of the cover of the book with the Green Gables property in the background. It definitely felt like a full circle moment to hold a book that I loved as a girl and to be standing on the property!
We were so thrilled to see the house!
It was really neat that you could enter and tour the home!
You can walk through the home by yourself or request a guided tour. We chose to walk through ourselves as we found the information was helpful enough on its own.
Matthew's Room.
Anne Shirley's Bedroom. (Girls everywhere just smiled at the broken slate! *smiles*)
After touring the home we went for a beautiful walk on the property which I will be sharing in a future post! This was truly one of our favorite "Anne" stops and I hope that each of you have the opportunity to visit the Green Gables Heritage Place Home when you are on Prince Edward Island! You definitely will want to add it to your "Anne" schedule!
I hope you enjoyed reading more about the Green Gables Heritage Place Home ! If you have any questions please let me know!
