Happy Thursday friends! I am excited to spend the next couple of weeks sharing with y'all some recap posts from the girls trip that I took four years ago through New England, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia (along with some new posts from this time that I never shared also!)! I hope that it encourages you to consider taking a road trip (in part or in whole depending on your circumstances) this fall to these beautiful places in the world.
Today I am so excited to share more about my trip to Prince Edward Island and specifically the inside pictures of our stay at Montgomery Inn at Ingleside. As I shared yesterday, our stay at Montgomery Inn at Ingleside was so wonderful and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
Today I am excited to share a look inside the first floor of Montgomery Inn at Ingleside.
As a bit of background, Montgomery Inn at Ingleside is the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery's grandfather, Senator Donald Montgomery. She grew up spending part of her childhood visiting her grandfather and nicknamed this home, "Ingleside". For those of you who are familiar with her books, her Ingleside Series of Books was based on her stays here at this home.
As I mentioned yesterday, Montgtomery Inn at Ingleside is a 4-acre homestead that was established in 1877 has been converted into a Canada Select 4-star Heritage Country Inn. The work that has been done to keep the integrity and authenticity of the history and yet modernize the home is absolutely incredible. I think y'all can see in these pictures just how amazing the interior is! (If you are interested in seeing the renovation pictures you can do so HERE!)
The front parlour has so many different unique items that showcase the rich history of Lucy Maud Montgomery and her family.
The history in this room was truly amazing.
The front hallway held some unique treasures.
This bookcase was simply amazing. There were tons of books from days of old, including many first editions of Lucy Maud Montgomery books.
The package above, that was addressed to L.M. Montgomery's grandfather was found in the restoration- still with the wrapping on it!
Across from our room and just beyond the bookcase was the dining room and then the kitchen.
All of the little details were truly incredible.
One of the areas of the house that has been transformed the most is the kitchen. It truly has kept the historical elements (notice the servants staircase in the last picture) and yet has modernized the home to make it practical for guests.
I hope that y'all loved this look inside Montgomery Inn at Ingleside!
